Laurie's March Design Team Kit Unboxing
Hi guys, it's Laurie again, and today I'm "unboxing" my super awesome March design team kit!

First up, my FAVORITE: the new Panda-monium collection. I love Pandas. My daughter's nursery is panda-themed. Her first birthday party was panda-themed. We take pictures of her every month next to a giant stuffed panda. So receiving the flair, the new sequins mix, and the adorable ephemera pack is really going to come in handy! I love how there is such a nice mix of posed pands in the ephemera. I love the panda showing us his bum!

And who says dreams don't come true? I actually had a dream that I received the new Pink & Cream Bouquets collection in my design team kit, and lo and behold, it's here in my kit! It definitely reminds me of spring and summer. I just love the bouquets of flowers in the baskets and the wreaths. And again, there is such a nice variety of bouquets in the ephemera pack. I'm seeing these as great Easter card embellishments!

I also received the new Monthly Words, which I think will be especially handy for those doing Project Life. I love the font on these because it's a script, but it's not too fancy. These words are going to go so well with just about anything! PLUS, the collection includes bonus sequins and bows. Too cute!

And if that wasn't enough, I also received the wood veneer "Slap Happy" and acrylic "Cheeky" words. Those are going to be perfect for using as titles on layouts.

I'm excited to start creating with my kit, so stay tuned!  Look at all this goodness!!  OMGOSH this goodness!!!  Here is the full kit and I can't wait!

Am I Really 34?

Hi guys!

It's Laurie, and the layout I'm sharing with you today is about my birthday cake! I had this photo of my birthday cake from December, and I knew that I wanted to use the Cheeky Studio die-cut from the Unicorns & Rainbows pack that said "May all your dreams come true". Because how fitting is that for a birthday layout?

I also knew that I wanted to use the Unicorn Mode sequins in some way. So I pulled my photo, the die-cut and the sequins to start me off.

Originally, I wanted to do something with the sequins sort of bursting forth from the picture, but then I saw a layout from scrapbooker Suzanna Lee that I had pinned to my Scrapbook/Cards Pinterest board, and I changed my mind with how my layout was going to look. So instead of sequins bursting forth, I played around with my patterned paper and adhered the sequins in some of the circular patterns on it.

I also already had the title in mind, so I just grabbed some alpha stickers from my stash that fit with the color scheme of the patterned paper I chose - thank goodness I actually had some that matched!

Throw in some ribbon, a few more die-cuts and a heart sticker border from the Unicorns & Rainbows collection, some glittery tissue paper that I received in a gift box at work (love random finds like that), some Crate Paper tags, a spritz of Shimmerz Coloringz Pink Stilettos from the Cheeky Studio Winter Flowers Mixed Media Mini Kit, and that my friends is a recipe for a successful scrapbook layout!

Have a cheeky day!

Unicorn Mode Activated
Hey guys, it's Laurie here, back on the blog to share a milestone memory with you courtesy of the Unicorns and Rainbows and Unicorn Mode collections. This is a photo of my daughter on the day she took her first steps!

I spritzed the white cardstock with the Shimmerz Coloringz Pink Stilettos from the Winter Flowers Mini Mixed Media kit, and then I used that fun unicorn patterned paper to go along with the unicorn ephemera that I'd be using.

I loved the idea of titling the layout "Unicorn Mode Activated" because it felt like when your kid takes his or her first steps, that's the day that things really start to change. They take off. They take that next step or leap. And I imagined my daughter leaping like a unicorn into the next stage of her development.

So I also used a leaping unicorn die-cut from the pack at the top of the title. The title, of course, was created using the Cheeky Studio Unicorn Mode wood veneer and some VERY OLD mini alphas from my stash.

I created a half-circle of the Unicorn Mode sequin mix going around the top of my photo, and I also added some of those fun Unicorns and Rainbows flowers and stars ephemera pieces! Super simple and super cute. Don't forget to visit the shop to get your own unicorns!

Smile You Are Loved
Hey guys, it's Laurie here, and I'm excited to share with you my take on Miranda's awesome sketch for February! I loved the grid-type format of it (kind of reminded me of a tic tac toe board, so I might have to go back and create another layout using that idea...) and when I found these cut apart strips in an old paper pad in my stash, I just knew they would work perfectly to create my grid. The colors also went perfectly with the new Cheeky Studio Unicorns and Rainbows collection.

I moved the title, which is also a cut apart from the same paper pad, into the center of the grid and used two pictures instead of one. They are bumped up on craft foam for some dimension. I also made my grid a little bit smaller instead of filling up the whole page with it. (That's the beauty of sketches! You can interpret them however you want!)

And scattered throughout the grid are those awesome sassy unicorns, colorful rainbows and clouds, butterflies, flowers, and glittery hearts. There are so many cute things to choose from in the ephemera pack, I had a hard time picking which ones I wanted to include!

I also added in two of the bows from the Pink & Mint Christmas kit (a separate purchase I made for myself - I couldn't resist!) because I really felt like their colors fit perfectly with this layout, and then I chose to go with the Winter Flowers sequin mix, which was also in my February design team kit, because there were some teal sequins in that mix, and I felt like that mix just went better with all the teal that ended up being on this layout.

I loved working with this sketch and hope that you guys head over to the Cheeky Studio Facebook Group and share your takes on the sketch, too! We'd love to see what you create!

Peekaboo with Unicorns
Happy February, everyone!

It's Laurie here to share with you my first layout using my February design team kit. I have to say, this layout kind of scared me when I was creating the mixed media background, but I ended up really happy with the finished result.

I wanted to do a mixed media rainbow to fit in with the rainbows of the unicorn collections that I received, so I did a little bit of packaging technique with the Shimmerz from the Valentine's Day mixed media kit and some other colors from my stash that I felt would work with the colors in the Unicorns and Rainbows collection. And then I realized that the colors of the mixed media and the papers I chose ACTUALLY fit better with the brighter colors of the Unicorn Mode collection, so I ended up using more of that ephemera and sequins on this layout. But I did sneak in one of those fun glittery-looking hearts and one of the teal stars from the Unicorns and Rainbows ephemera pack!

Sneek Peak

I decorated the clouds of one of the rainbows with the sequins to give that more visual interest and try to do something different with the sequins than my usual little clusters here and there.

Unicorn

And because these are photos of my daughter playing peekaboo with herself, I added in a castle sticker from my stash (propped up on craft foam for dimension) because I thought, what goes better with mystical unicorns? A princess castle! My little princess needs a castle to house her unicorns!

Final Layout

I just loved working with this fun collection, and there is more to come this month, so stay tuned! And don't forget to check out the shop so you can get your own stash of unicorns.

Have a cheeky day!
